المقدمة

في اللغة الإنجليزية يوجد العديد من المفردات التي تعبر عن اللصوص أو السارقين لكن ما الفرق بينهم ومتى نستخدمهم بشكل صحيح ففي هذا الدرس سنوضح ذلك

In English language there are several words that express thieves, but what is the difference between them and when to use them correctly. In this lesson we will explain that.

⬥Thief

شخص يسرق ممتلكات شخص آخر خاصة عن طريق التخفي ودون استخدام التهديد أو 

العنف

A person who steals another person's property, especially by stealth and without using force or violence.

Ex: a thief has been stealling wallets and valuables from the lockers at the gym.

⬥Burglar

شخص يقتحم مبنى لسرقة شيء ما. يمكن أن يكون منزلًا أو مكتبًا أو بنكًا وما إلى ذلك

Someone who breaks in way into a building so as to steal something. It could be a home, office, bank and so on.

Ex: video surveillance captured the burglar breaking the window at 12:45 a.m according to police.

◆Robber

شخص يهدد بالسلاح والعنف حتى يتمكن من سرقة شيء ما من شخص ما

Someone who threatens with gun and violence so that he can steal something from someone.

Ex: The armed robbers forced their way into the house on monday at 7p.m.

⬥Pickpoket

من يسرق جيب أو حقيبة شخص ما دون أن يدرك ذلك الشخص أنها مسروقة وتتميز بخفة اليد والسرعة في السرقة وغالبًا ما توجد في الأماكن المزدحمة

A person who steals someone's pocket or handbag without that person realizing that it is stolen and is characterized by lightness of hand and speed in stealing and often found in crowded public places.

Ex: A pickpoket stole my watch on the train.

◆Shoplifter

شخص يسرق البضائع من متجر ويخفيها في جيبه أو حقيبته بينما يتظاهر بأنه عميل

Someone who steals goods from a store and hides them in his pocket or bag while pretending to be a customer.

Ex: the supermarket had been targeted by shoplifters.

◆Mugger

شخص يقوم بقطع الطريق والهجوم على شخص اخر وسرقته في مكان عام

Someone who attacks another person and robs him in a public place.

Ex: The mugger snatched my purse and ran away.

◆Bandit

لص أو خارج عن القانون ينتمي إلى عصابة ويعمل عادة في منطقة معزولة أو خارجة عن القانون

A robber or outlaw belonging to a gang and typically operating in an isolated or lawless area.

Ex: The bandit produced a weapon and demanded money.

◆Hijacker

الشخص الذي استولى بشكل غير قانوني على طائرة أو مركبة أثناء العبور وأجبرها على الذهاب إلى وجهة مختلفة أو استخدامها لأغراضه الخاصة

A person who illegally seizes an airplane, or vehicle while in transit and forces it to go to a different destination or uses it for their own purposes.

Ex: Negotiators began talks with the hijackers of the plane.

◆Pirate

شخص يهاجم ويسرق السفن في البحر

A person who attacks and robs ships at sea.

Ex: In the three weeks leading up to the attack, sixteen container ships had been boarded by pirates.

⬥Hacker

شخص يستخدم أجهزة الكمبيوتر ويخترق المواقع للوصول غير المصرح به إلى البيانات

Someone who uses computers and hacks websites to gain unauthorized access to data.

Ex: A hacker damaged the entire company system.
