يوجد في اللغة الإنجليزية صيغ مقارنة وتفضيل كما في اللغة العربية فسنتعرف اليوم ما هي تلك الصيغ وطريقة استخدامها

Comparative form صيغة المقارنة

تستخدم المقارنة للمقارنة بين شيئين أو شخصين يمتلكون نفس الصفة

وتنقسم صفات المقارنة إلى قسمين صفات قصيرة ذات مقطع واحد وصفات طويلة لها أكثر من مقطع

Form for short adjectives: صيغة للصفات القصيرة 

Subject + Verb + Adj(er) + Than + Object

Form for long adjectives: صيغة للصفات الطويلة 

Subject + Verb + More + Adj + Than + Object

Ex

Rawan is taller than Mariam.

Khaled is smarter than Mohamed.

Katy is more beautiful than Jessy.

The green bag is more expensive than the white bag.

Summer is hotter than spring.

This exam is more difficult than the one before.

Superlative form صيغة التفضيل

تستخدم لمقارنة شيء بمجموعة من الأشياء أو شخص أو حيوان تتوفر فيه أعلى درجات الصفة أو أدناها

مثلما فعلنا مع المقارنة تنقسم الصفات إلى قسمين قصيرة وطويلة

Form for short adjectives صيغة الصفات القصيرة

Subject + Verb + The + Adj(est) + of/in + Object

Form for long adjective صيغة الصفات الطويلة

Subject + Verb + The + Most + Adj + of/in + Object

The gold watch is the most expensive of all.

My house is the most comfortable in this city.

It was the happiest day of my life.

Lama is the tallest girl in her classroom.

This forest is the most dangerous place in the world.

This exam is the easiest exam of my life.

Irregular adjectives صفات شاذة

Good - better - the best

Bad - worse - the worst

Far - further/farther - the furthest/ the farthest

Many/much - more - the most
