Types of verbs أنواع الأفعال

الفعل في اللغة الإنجليزية ينقسم إلى ثلاثة أنواع الأفعال الرئيسية والأفعال المساعدة والأفعال الناقصة

⬟ Main verbs الأفعال الرئيسية

هي أفعال الأساسية التي توجد بمفردها ولا يوجد معاها أي أفعال مساعدة وتنقسم إلى نوعين وهما

- Regular Verbs الأفعال المنتظمة

Ex

He played basketball yesterday.

Suzan is cooking dinner now.

I want to learn Spanish.

They live in London.

- Irregular verbs الأفعال الشاذة

Ex

I made a chocolate cake last week.

We drove to the airport and left our car there.

Omar put on his jacket because it was freezing.

Lucy has worked as an engineer for 2 years.

⬟ Auxiliary/helping verbs الأفعال المساعدة

هي أفعال تقوم بوظيفتين بعض الأحيان تكون مساعدة فسميت بذلك لأنها تساعد في تكوين الأزمنة وليس لها معنى في الجمل هي فقط مساعدة في التكوين ويكون معها أفعال رئيسية وبعض الأوقات تكون هي أفعال رئيسية بذاتها لا تحتاج إلى أفعال أخرى معها وتنقسم إلى 3 أنواع وهما

- Verb to Be

(Am, is, are, was, were, been)

Ex

I am a teacher. (main V)

I am writing an article right now. (helping V)

She is a beautiful lady. (main V)

Look! it is raining. (helping V)

- Verb to Have

(have, has, had)

Ex

We have a dark blue car. (main V)

I have studied in this college for 3 years. (helping V)

It has white fur. (main V)

Has she ever seen this man? (helping V)

- Verb to Do

(do, does, did)

Ex

Kareem does his homework. (main V)

We did not go to the camp last Friday. (helping V)

I do the dishes. (main V)

My friend did not receive my gift. (helping V)

⬟ Modal verbs الأفعال الناقصة

هي نوع من الأفعال المساعدة توضح الحالة العامة للجملة مثل نصيحة أو اقتراح أو قدرة إلى اخره وسنقوم بشرحهم بالتفصيل في دروس قادمة ويوجد العديد منها في المضارع والماضي وهم

(can, could, shall, should, may, might, will, would, must, ought to)

Ex

I can speak English very well.

May my sister borrow your lipstick tomorrow?

We will buy a laptop next month.

You should go to the doctor.

Forms of verbs أشكال الأفعال

يوجد الفعل في اللغة الإنجليزية على هيئة خمس أشكال أو صيغ وهم

1- In present simple verbs with S. like She reads. He plays.

2- In present simple verbs without S. like I swim. We eat.

3- In past simple verbs with d/ed/ied. like She studied. They watched. You arrived.

4- In continuous tenses. like I am speaking. He was living.

5- In perfect tenses. like I have given this gift since 2013.
